The Constellation Orion

October 21, 2022 - 01:17am, facing east

For the longest time, when I looked at the stars, except for the Pleiades, I only ever saw triangles. Well, those and the one square that has Orion's belt on a side - where I thought the whole square was the belt. I can recognize a few more, thanks to various friends over the years.

This photo is one from many when I was trying to photograph shooting stars from the Orionids. Sitting, looking at the sky for hours, was when I really got Orion. But, thanks to the Orionids, I am convinced his shield is a bow, because I saw arrows flying across the sky.
